Having two network card on one computer is being used on network with shared Internet connection. One ethernet card is connected directly on to the DSL modem for outbound traffic and the other network card is connected on to the hub/switch of the local network.
This makes the computer with 2 Network Interface Card as the Gateway of all computers in the network to be able to access the internet.
Some uses the buuilt-in Internet Connection sharing by Windows but other prefer a third party Proxy Server Software for more flexibility, features and security.
