If you are tired of selecting to open USB flash drive to open it on Windows Explorer, you can do it permanently and set to automatic so that each time you insert your USB flash drive it will open on Windows Explorer and view your files. To set this please do the following:

1. When flash drive is inserted into USB port, an AutoPlay window will appear.
2. Select “Open folder to view files” and mark check the “Always do the selected action.
3. Click OK and the next time you insert the flash drive, it will be opened using Windows Explorer.

This article is applicable to both Windows XP Home and Professional version.

  1. Nice try, but the “always do the selected action” does not exist. So please other suggestions for achieving this.

  2. Even if that box appears (which is has not been lately (I think it may appear only the first time you plug in a flash drive)) it doesn’t work. Try something else.
