“An OLE registration error occurred” Outlook Error

About: Suddenly having an “An OLE registration error occurred” when trying to compose a message on MS Outlook maybe due to corrupted files and incompatibility between MS Outlook and the default e-mail editor.

“An OLE, email registration error occurred. The program is not correctly installed. Run setup again for the program.”

This Microsoft Outlook error appears when a configured e-mail editor was not found or corrupted.  It can also be a problem if the e-mail editor is not compatible with your version of Microsoft Outlook.

To fix this error, we provided two steps that will solve this “An OLE registration error occurred” issues.

PROCEDURE 1 : regsvr32 ole32.dll
1. Close the running program MS Outlook

2. Go to Start > Run

3. Type regsvr32 ole32.dll in the field “Open:” and click OK

4. This will register the ole32.dll on the Windows Registry. Confirm by clicking OK

PROCEDURE 2 : Clear Outlook Data Files
1. Close running MS Outlook program

2. Open Windows Explorer or My Computer and navigate to the following path:
C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

3. Delete all data files found under the Outlook folder.

4. Open MS Outlook, it will create clean data files and program should now run smoothly.
