Some virus and malware tend to infect a system files in order to spread itself. Not all infected system files can be cleaned by an antivirus programs, thus sometimes a fresh and original copy of the Windows system files have to be restored from the installation disc. To to this, follow the procedures:

1. Click Start > Run.
2. Type the following text:
msconfig

3. Click OK.
4. Click the General tab.
5. Click Expand File.
6. In the File to restore box, type the name of the file that you want to restore.
7. In the Restore from box, type the location of the Windows installation CD or files. The installation files are often in a folder on the hard drive. You can also click Browse and browse to the location.
8. In the Save file in box, type the location of the folder to which you want to restore this file. You can also click Browse and browse to this location.
9. Click Expand.
