Malware and viruses can do various annoyances on victims computer and one of which is to remove Windows Desktop Icons and some tools to prevent users from fixing the computer.
To bring the desktop and icons back to normal you can try this procedure. You need the Windows XP installer for this one.
1. If you can access Start > Run, type the following in the box, if not you can access Run by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc on your keybord.
SFC /SCANNOW
2. A Windows Task Manager will appear.
3. Go to file and click New Task.
4. It will scan for Windows System files and will prompt you to insert the XP CD. This will fix it and return Windows XP to its original state.
