This is best when you have two computers, say a desktop and a laptop wherein you want to download Gmail emails on both. You can download mail on your laptop if your are mobile and still download them on your desktop when you are at home.
To do this, you must click the options “Leave a copy of messages on Server” on
Tools>Accounts and Advance Tab of your email account.
Then replace the username to recent:username@gmail.com
