“Can’t Create File” Outlook Error When Viewing Attachment
Similarly Interesting Articles...
If you try to view an attached file on Microsoft Outlook and having this error message:
“Can’t create file:[filename]. Right-click the folder you want to create the file in, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu to check your permissions for the folder.“
This simply means that the Temp file that linked to that attachment is inaccessible by the program. To work around this you can follow these steps:
1. Close Microsoft Outlook program if it is running
2. Go to Start > Run and type regedit in the field “Open:”
3. Registry editor will appear.
4. Go to Edit > Find and input OutlookSecureTempFolder
5. It will give you the location similar to the one below:
C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK[Random Number]
6. Open Windows Explorer or My Computer and navigate to the given folder. If you cannot find the folder, go to Tools > Folder Options > View tab and select “Show Hidden files and folders.” The folder must be hidden
7. Delete all files under the said OLK folder.
8. Start Microsoft Outlook and it should be resolved by now.
